Your Role
The Facilities Manager oversees all housekeeping and maintenance, and plans and coordinates the preparation, protection and renewal of facilities and site. Preparation: the Facilities Manager schedules and supervises housekeepers to ensure the cleanliness and readiness of guest facilities and summer camp facilities. Protection: the Facilities Manager maintains and repairs facilities, equipment and site, and schedules and supervises part-time maintenance staff. Renewal: the Facilities Manager helps improve and develop site and facilities.
Location
Camp Bethel is an outdoor ministry of the Virlina District Church of the Brethren and is located in Fincastle, VA at the foot of the towering Blue Ridge Mountains. Just 10 miles north of Roanoke, Camp Bethel is a historic site, a peaceful and remote sanctuary, yet closely accessible via I-81 and Route 11. The vast Jefferson National Forest adjoins its 470 acres of hiking trails, ponds, streams, open meadows, forests, and rolling hills. Camp Bethel offers affordable, comfortably modern, as well as quaint-rustic style facilities for year-round use.
Background Profile
Desire and ability to work in a setting of Christian ministry, service and programming, and a desire to fulfill the Camp Bethel Statement of Purpose and Mission.
High school graduate and at least 22 years old; valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Experience and/or proven ability in repair and renewal of facilities including construction, carpentry/woodwork, electric wiring and control, plumbing for water and sewage, vehicle and camp/farm equipment maint. and grounds keeping.
Physical ability to lift loads and handle equipment; comfort in the out of doors.
Interpersonal skills for relating to staff, volunteers, guests and campers, and ability to accept and provide supervision.
Self-motivated, punctual, and enthusiastic with good organizational skills for maintaining files, manuals and financial statements.
Basic computer skills with MS Office Suite 2007 or higher: word processing; e-mail; web-based research.
Acceptance and ability to be on call.
Compensation Package
Starting salary is $29,000 per year.
